This fascinating ‘Russian calf’ from the J&FJ Baker Tannery showcases the hallmarks of true old‑world craftsmanship. The leather undergoes a slow, four‑month vegetable tannage in pits using willow and oak‑bark liquors, resulting in a dense, durable fibre structure with excellent breathability. After tanning, it’s dressed with birch oil, which naturally preserves the leather, adds water resistance, and imparts its distinctive, historic aroma.
